Foundry Melting Manager – EE

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Technical Qualification, which may include: S4 / N4 / N. Diploma / B. Tech
  • Certified qualification in metallurgy, applicable to the Foundry Industry

Minimum Experience             

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the management of a foundry sand casting process involving more than 25 employees
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of physical metallurgy and or heat treatment of ferrous alloys
  • 4 years’ experience with actively managing a continuous improvement programme world class manufacturing, TQM, Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing
  • 2 years’ experience as a legally appointed section 16.2

  • Innovative and drive continuous improvement

Key Tasks:

  • Maintain the safety of all melting systems and processes at the Foundry and implement world class safety practices as guided by the Health and Safety Department and Senior Management
  • Ensure that the Foundry complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act85:1993)
  • Implement and improve on world class error proofing and quality control systems to prevent defects from reaching the customer
  • Maintain the Melting expense budget, including manning calculations, shift control, over-time control and raw material costs
  • Supervise, develop and motivate staff
  • Responsible for the Metallurgical and physical integrity of all materials poured and or heat-treated
  • Management of critical spares and consumables
  • Manage and achieve daily production targets
