PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to drive retail growth to maximize retail market share through structured and well-balanced promotions and advertising and provide leadership in the area of marketing communication.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Plan and manage the Guild budget (including advertising, promotions, media, sponsorships etc.)
• Negotiate regional promotional income
• Conduct performance reviews with key suppliers and conduct surveys of promotional programmes
• Develop supplier relations and networks (i.e. TBWA, 185 Solutions, Trading Suppliers)
• Monitor professional services to customers (internally and externally)
• Manage and conduct effective divisional marketing meetings regionally
• Develop and improve the promotional and advertising programme
• Work closely with all service providers to improve the brand and marketing communication strategy
• Create annual Regional promotional strategy grid and influence National using category strategies which flows out of market specific data
• Assist Category Managers to drive preferred suppliers to maximize growth and profits
• Maximize ALL National themes at regional level
• Focus on and drive Press and Regional Rewards programmes
• Plan and manage sponsorships incl. budgets with Advertising Manager
• Manage Critical Path with Promotions and Advertising Managers
• Ensure accuracy of promotions and advertising execution andmanage error rates
• Drive DC and Retail sales and gross profits
• Grow, develop, and mentor direct reports

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
• Very strong at Public Speaking.
• Understanding of IsiXhosa is essential.
• Matric Certificate – mandatory.
• Diploma or Degree – Marketing or related qualification – Mandatory
• 8 years’ overall experience in Marketing or Advertising
• An added advantage would be years of experience in a buying/purchasing portfolio
